Andrew Cunanan

Andrew Cunanan was born August 31, 1969. Although Cunanan had a mother, he was primarily raised by his father was a marine.  Cunanan attended a private school in San Diego where he showed his gay attention-seeking behaviors.  He was very open about his sexuality a deemed by classmates to never be forgotten.  His father was accused of fraud, this made his father flee to the Philippines.  Andrew soon joined him but realized that it was not the place for him; so he moved back to San Francisco where they were more open to homosexuality. This is where it is said that he met Gianni Versace which would eventually lead to the the death of both of them.  He also met his lover David Madison, and the man who had an affair with Jeffery Trail.  Cunanan became involved heavily in drugs becoming less interested in his own self appearance.

Jealousy soon took over Cunanan's life.  His lover, David Madison, moved to Minneapolis; when Cunanan visited Madison he realized that his other former lover Trail also lived there.  Cunanan formulated the assumption that they were having an affair.  He invited Trail to Madison's apartment where a heated argument broke out leading to Cunanan brutally beating and killing Trail.  This forced Andrew and madison to flee the city. A few hours away Madison's body was found, he was killed by a 40. caliber handgun. The next stop along the homicidal route was a 72 yr. old man who had no relation with Cunanan but was vary wealthy.  Many believe he was just murdered to allow Andrew to get money and a new vehicle. The final murder was the one that sent his media ratings through the roof. This is what he always wanted to be known and famous. He moved down to miami,Fl leaving in a beach front kinda run down hotel.  A few miles away lived a famous fashion designer Gianni Versace, no one truly knows the motive behind Cunanan but especially this murder. As the designer Versace was returning home Cunanan walked up behind him and shot him twice in the head. This was the final murder of Andrew Cunanan before he was on a house boat surrounded by s.w.a.t. Before the s.w.a.t could reach Cunanan he had turned the gun on himself.

The motive behind Cunanan's killings will never be determined.  Was there even a true reason or was this an irate killing spree that took 4 random peoples lives.  He was said to be smart and clean-cut.  He was never said to be made fun of despite his sexuality. He also used drugs heavily, so was this the aftermath of a drug usage.  The truth will never be known.

Herman Webster Mudgett

Mudgett was born in 1861, his father was said to be very strict and abusive at times. Mudgett was bullied at an early age by his classmates, little did they know this would turn his fear in to an obsession that would lead to murdering.  Mudgett started his deviant behavior when he started stealing bodies from University of Michigan where he attended medical school.  His deviant acts turned criminal when he started collecting insurance money, by saying that the bodies were killed accidentally. This lead to his serial killing.

After medical school,He changed his name to Dr. Henry Howard Holmes and started working at a pharmacy. He soon convinced the wife of the store owner, a man who was suffering from cancer, to sell it to him.  Shortly after buying the pharmacy he became very successful, which intern he started building and purchasing places.  He built one rather large  building people deemed "The Castle". The bottom of the castle was Mudgett's pharmacy and above it was a series of hallways and doors that were odd and sometimes lead to no where.  This is where Mudgett carried out his murders.  He lured people in by stating it was a hotel which it was simple not.  There were chutes, chambers and hidden torture areas.  He also had many female employees which he would make sure they had life insurance.  He would soon kill them but before that he would sign his life insurence of to him.  He then after would dissect or sell the bodies to medical research facilities.  He was finally caught when he created a plan to have a man fake there own death in order to collect insurance money for his wife.  Mudgett ended up truly killing the man and was tried and found guilty for the murder. He admitted to murdering up to 200 people.  When police returned to the castle there was remains of hundreds of people.  He was sentenced to death by hanging.

Mudgett was a interesting serial killer because he did not only have a fascination with bodies that lead to murdering, he had a greed problem too.  He would always try and make money off the individuals he murdered.  He was also relatively smart about how he concealed his murders.  He made everything seem as if it was a hotel not a murders den.  Mudgett was on of the first documented serial killers.

Albert Fish

Albert Fish was born May 19, 1870 in Washington D.C. His family had a history of mental illness. He is said to be one of the the kindest looking guy, but underlying that shell he was a very deranged man.  Fish committed nearly 400 heinous acts all the way up to torture, murder, rape and cannibalism.  He prayed only on young children, since he had a nice guy appeal on the outside many people trusted him. Is fish an example of truly being born with a mental condition, or was he poorly taken care of as a child.

Fish became an orphan at a young age.  At the orphanage fish was exposed to many horrendous things such as brutal beatings and sexual acts.  At the age of 7 his mother accepted him back.  Fish went on to graduate high school and started working odd jobs.  Fish even went on to get married and father children.  However when his wife left him with the children he asked them if they wanted to take part in his pain enduring pleasure.  In 1910, Albert Fish committed his first murder in which he tortured before he murdered his victim.  He then went on to paddle kids with a paddle that had nails pounded through it.

The murder before he got caught:  An 18 yr old boy was looking for a part-time job to help his family.  Albert Fish claimed he was a farmer looking for a strong individual to help him.  He met with the family in order to gain tight ties with the parent making him seem trust worthy. The Budd family was about to learn how deceitful he was.  One time when Fish was suppose to pick the boy up for work he showed up but claimed he had to leave to go to a birthday party for a child. Albert invited the youngest daughter in the family Grace Budd along with him; seeming so trust worthy they let her go along.  Only if the budd family new that this would be the last time they would ever.  He sent a note that vividly depicted the torture murder and cannibalism to the family.

Once caught and put on trial, Fish claimed that he was drawn to commit his acts because the voices in his head told him too.  However the jury found him guilty and deemed there were no voices.  He was sentenced to the electric chair.  I believe that was he saw in the orphanage lead him to try and get revenge in a twisted way.  He got pleasure committing his demented crimes.

David Berkowitz

David Berkowitz did not have the easiest childhood.  Some may have thought that he was okay and doing well but he was truly about to go insane.  He was born June 1, 1953 to a mother and father who could not love him.  They gave him up for adoption as soon as he was born.  Berkowitz was adopted by a married couple who tried to set up a normal life for him.  But soon they got divorced and David would struggle to make a good name for himself.  His adopted mother passed away leaving only his adopted father.  His father remarried to a lady who did not appreciate Davids company.  His father and step mother left him at the age of 18 to fend for himself.
Berkowitz joined the military for three years before getting honorably discharged.  In the military he had his first sexual experience with a prostitute.  He then moved to a neighborhood that he explained as driving him to make his first murder.  The neighbors dog howled and howled for hours making it impossible for Berkowitz to sleep.  Soon Berkowitz took the dogs howling to mean that demons were telling him to go out and murder women.  He went out one night under demons orders and stabbed two women.  One only 15 lived after being stabbed 6 times.  He committed 6 murders before being caught.  He was caught because he was spotted crying over a parking ticket.  His car was parked near the murder scene of one victim.  Finally after being identified as the only individual with a parking ticket that night; cops showed up and asked one question.  "who are you"  his answer was "sam".  "son of sam" was an alias that he went by during his killings.
Berkowitz is a unique case because he created an allies and reasons behind his murdering. But in a later article Berkowitz claimed he just said those things incase he got caught he could use his demon story to be tried as criminally insane and receive a lessor of a punishment.  However this was not the case when he was determined mentally stable enough to testify, then he later came clean.  He also expressed he became sexually aroused when he committed his acts.

Dean Corll

Born  December 24, 1939 in Fort Wayne, Indiana two his parents whom had a stable relationship but soon fell apart. Dean was only six years old when his parents got a divorce.  Most children show signs of of there parents troubles but Dean was not one of them.  He maintained good grades and was said to be very polite and well behaved. Dean and one of his brothers moved with his mother to Houston, Texas.  His father soon moved to texas and remarried Deans mother.  Once again it did not last. Corll completed his high-school years and started to help his mother with her candy business.  He also became a electrician working for Houston Lighting and Power.  The candy store was located across from a school, so kids would come over after school hours.  Corll would often give them free candy generating the nick name "The Candy Man".

Corll seemed to live a normal life maintain a full time salary while helping his mother. There was only one suspicious aspect of him,  the people he claimed as friends.  The two individuals he hung-out with most were David Brooks and Wayne Henley.  They were both products of disrupted families and both enjoyed drugs and alcohol.  Not only was that a problem they were only teenagers.  At this time Dean was in his thirties. The Corll and the boys were seen together several times creating minor suspicion. No one would suspect who Corll really was.

Accused of torturing, raping and killing 27 boys between 9-21 would never see any jail time.  One night a female friend of Henley needed out of her own home because her father was an angry, abusive drunk.  Henley went off and picked her up and retuned to Corll's house.  They all began to take apart in both drug and alcohol abuse.  Corll's had talked with Henley how he could not believe he brought a girl to his home.  Henley thought he had calmed him down but he did not Corll rage was still there.  The boys and the girl with them passed out from drinking.  Henley was awaken by his hands getting handcuffed to the torture bed in Corll's room; his friends were tied up on the floor with there mouths taped shut.  Henley pleaded with Corll saying that if Corll let him go then he would rape the female and Corll could rape the other male.    Corll agreed forcing Henley to cut the girls clothing off.  Corll's victim fought vigorously enraging him to the point where he left for a brief moment.  Henley found Corll's gun and shot him six times.

Henley then told the police of all the murders Corll committed.  Henley pleaded guilty for 6 terms of 99 years.  Although we won't be able to fully comprehend the motive behind Corll we can see the side effects of a broken child hood.  They may of been able to hide it for there early years but then the signs of human not nurtured as a child comes through as they grow.

Ed Gein

Ed gein a man who believed he truly felt he had a compulsion to commit his murders.  Growing up with a weak alcoholic father and a extremely religious mother; Gein was destined to have mental problems.   Geins mother expressed that sexual feelings were not suposed to be expound upon. He also grew up managing and running a farm with his brother.  Geins Mother passed away when he was 39.  His brother passed away only one year later.  The farm soon started to become run down and Ed started to become fascinated with female anatomy which soon lead to horrific crimes.

Ed Geins young sexual feelings were always frowned upon by his mother.  Gein was a 39 yr. old bachelor who never dated.  When his mother passed away so he had no one to watch his every move; this allowing Ed to research and become obsessed with the female body and pornographic material.  He started out by digging up women's graves where would remove reproductive organs, heart, liver and intestines.  Then he would remove the skin and create breast for himself to wear along with clothing and rags.  He soon thought that he needed fresher samples so he began murdering women.  He killed victims around his mothers age(51-58).  He continued to dissect there bodies and decorate his house with all aspects of the human body.  Gein murdered 15 know victims but he also stated that he could not remember exactly how many.

Finally Gein was arrested and sent to Central Sate Hospital for the criminally insane. He went to three mental institutions before he finally passed away from cancer.  He admitted to grave robbing but claimed he never had se with any corps because of there smell. I believe that he committed his murders because of lack of carrying out his sexual feelings.  It is human instinct to have those feelings.  Where when his mother was alive he had to conceal them.  When his mother passed away he expressed all feelings and became so obsessed with the female body that he went way beyond social standards.

Gary Leon Ridgeway

Ridgeway is a serial killer that truly believer that every victim deserved what they got.  He managed to avoid detectives for over 21 years on his illusive journey; where he murdered a known 48 women.  He described his killings as a "career".
imgres.jpg
At an early age he dealt with many family problems including violent arguments among his parents and was harassed by parents and peers.  He wet the bed beyond normal years, his mother off ton finding him. She would clean him but ridicule him and announce it to the rest of the family.  As he crew up he joined the military and tried to a job in the police force.  He started young with getting involved with prostitutes.  This is wear his hate for women and prostitutes began.  As ridgeway grew older he did mary and have a child; this did not last for vary long. After his divorcee his hatred for women grew.

In two and a half years he murdered as many as 50+, so many he forgot how many.  Most of his murders were prostitutes and women. They were said to be the easiest to pick up and most would not even know there gone.  He would be on the loose for 20 years before convicted for 4 murders.  Ridgeway was so illusive that a special task force composed of FBI agents in order to finally bring him down. He was sentenced to the death penalty but set up a plea deal if he confessed all of the people he murdered and location.

Ridgeway was a very prolific serial killer.  He would allude easy victims into his vehicle, rape and murder them then dispose of them.  However he was intelligent in the manner he did this.  he even went as far as leaving bodies but first disposing there teeth and finger nails.  He would surround the bodies with fake evidence to lead detectives down different paths.
